Hobgoblin Music Shop Promo Video
[Writer/ Director]
In October 2017 I was tasked, with three other filmmakers (Kai Edwards, Alec Green, and Kirk Cousins) to make a promotional video for music chain store 'Hobgoblin Music'. We managed to do this by filming on the a Canon C100 and arranging for a local folk band to come in and play whilst we filmed.
The narrative of the advert shows four musicians entering the shop separately and picking up instruments on display. As each member enters, they join in one by one with the song that the others are already playing, building up a four piece band. The idea for this narrative was inspired by an old Match.com advert, which depicts a man and a woman playing instruments together in a music shop, creating an accidental duet.
The reason we wanted to put so much focus on the fact that you can freely pick up and try out the instruments in this store is because many other music stores won't allow it, so the unique selling point for Hobgoblin music is the relaxed, customer friendly environment that is works to be.
This is an early example of the promo work I've done. If I were to remake it today I put more time into syncing up the audio and the footage of the band playing, and add some colour correction to make the image brighter and more welcoming (which would be even more of a reflection of the store itself).
